A business from home

With many cutbacks at work, either layoffs or reduction of hours, the uncomfortable feeling of being strapped for cash forces us to look elsewhere for money. Whether you have been earning some extra cash on the internet or not, the need is greater than ever to just do it or find a part time job.

New business startups is the fastest growing economic change in America - right now! The economic changes in recent times have forced many of us to find a niche market and sell, sell, sell.

Sounds simple, find what you are good at or find a product to believe in. As the movie Field of Dreams says "If you build it they will come"

Well, sorry to burst your bubble but if you build up a webpage or sales portfolio of products, they won't come knocking on your door without some encouragement.

Tips when starting your home business.

Break it down - rather than looking at the huge task ahead, break it down into smaller tasks. Step 1 Get your business license, this may take several things in order to obtain such as a visit to the local tax board, a fire department inspection, a trip to the county recorders' office depending on the name you decide to use. Step 2 might be to line up a bank loan, line of credit, open an account, setup a Paypal account, etc. Many little tasks instead of a huge overwhelming task.

Make a List - Start with an inital short list of the tasks ahead of you and add to it as you find another item that you need to do. A To Do List is the best organizing tool. Keep a pen & notebook with you at all times, jot down those notes or a great bumper sticker, advertisement, and even contact people.

Time - Every day (morning or evening) plan what you want to accomplish. Decide on 1, 2 or 3 things that are on your list and make the time to get them done. Don't beat yourself up if you gave yourself 3 tasks to complete and only got 2 done. Dispair not, just plan to finish the last task before you move on. If it's on your list, it is important!

Goals - Stay focused, visualize your ultimate prize. Extra cash! Freedom from debt! Vacation in the Bahamas! A Cruise! A month off every year! Start by setting a goal such as in one month I want to make 5 sales or have 5,000 visitors to my website or I want to write 1 chapter for my novel. Then look 2 months out - 10 sales or 7,500 visitors, & 3 chapters. Six months from now I want to Google my name and see it linked to 20 websites or I want to pay in advance for all my hosting fees, advertising, or send my manuscript into 6 publishing companies. Make a 1 month, 2 month, 6 month, 1 year and 5 year goal. Revisit your goals frequently, modify them if you need to but make sure you stay focused on that path that will see you with your ultimate prize.

Learn to say NO - You have your goals, you have your tasks broken down into small bites, got your notepad & pen for great ideas, but you've let the time fly.

"Honey, your show is on", "Mom, I have to have cupcakes for school", you look at the dishes and wonder why they didn't just hop into the dishwasher themselves.... waste of time? or time wasted. Focus on your goals, get a DVR, order the cupcakes at the bakery & stop to pick them up on your way home from work, & put you dishes in the dishwasher immediately don't let them stack up.

Pay attention to TIME, once you get control of it you can do anything.
